Welcome to Europe! The second smallest continent on earth has a lot to offer: high mountains and deep canyons, smoking volcanoes and glittering glaciers. Bears, wolves and moose have found a home in the forests, seals live on the coasts and in the warm south you can observe turtles and colourful lizards. But Europe is more than just a continent. The peoples who live here look back on an exciting history. Democracy was already invented in ancient Greece and the European Enlightenment philosophers stood up for the equality of people. But also many bad wars took their course from here, which brought much misfortune to the whole world. To ensure that this never happens again, 28 European countries have today formed a unique alliance. According to the motto "United in diversity", the European Union fights for a strong Europe and is committed to freedom, peace and prosperity of the people.
