Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone produced by the developing placenta shortly after conception and excreted in the urine. The pregnancy test contains antibodies that react to the hormone. When the urine comes into contact with the absorbent wick, capillaries are used to pass the urine sample into the membrane. When the hCG reaches the test area, a colored line appears. If this line is missing, the test result is negative. For control purposes, a colored line appears in the control area, which shows whether the test was performed correctly.
From a concentration of 10mlU/ml, the Evial pregnancy test detects hCG in the urine. Therefore, the Evial pregnancy test can be performed as early as four days before menstruation is due.
