Ialuna is suitable for women of all ages as an adjunctive or individual therapy for non-aggressive vaginal disorders such as vaginal dryness. Vaginal dryness often manifests itself as itching, a burning sensation or even pain during sexual intercourse. Vaginal dryness can occur in women at different stages of life, but especially during menopause, after childbirth or when using certain medications (the pill) or during the course of chemotherapy. Ialuna can be used alone or in combination with other therapeutic measures against vaginal dryness. What is Ialuna? Ialuna comes in the form of vaginal ovules. Each pack contains ten ovules. These contain hyaluronic acid (0.2%), vitamin E, herbal excipients and glycerine. Each ovule is approximately two centimetres long and one centimetre wide and has the shape of an egg. Due to its surface texture, the ovulum can be easily inserted into the vagina without special aids. Once inserted into the vagina, the ovulum dissolves within a few minutes and, thanks to the high water-binding capacity of hyaluronic acid, wets the entire inner surface of the vagina, so that the typical symptoms of vaginal dryness, such as itching, burning and pain, are completely eliminated within a few days. The hyaluronic acid contained in Ialuna has a high water-binding capacity and, in addition to moisturizing the surface, also promotes wound healing of the injured mucous membrane in the vagina. The herbal adjuvants and vitamin E contained in Ialuna have a local antioxidant effect against harmful free oxygen radicals and thus also help in wound healing. Hyaluronic acid: Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that occurs naturally in the body and is therefore non-allergenic. It is found in many different tissues and is located outside the cells in the organs, where it is responsible for the shape, elasticity and water storage of the tissue. Delivered to surfaces, as is the case with Ialuna Ovuli on the vaginal mucosa, hyaluronic acid moistens the surface of the mucosa in such a way that it is possible for the surfaces to slide past each other again without significant friction. Hyaluronic acid also has a significant influence on wound healing in general. It promotes the processes that are important in wound healing. Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in all wound healing phases. During the inflammatory phase of wound healing, cleansing cells (macrophages, neutrophil granulocytes) are attracted to the wound to eliminate any dirt particles or infections such as fungi. Fibroblasts play a very important role in the contraction of the wound edges: hyaluronic acid promotes the mobility and activity of these cells, which leads to faster contraction and reduction of the wound. At the end of the wound healing process, the hyaluronic acid promotes the mobility and division rate of the epithelial cells, so that injuries are covered more quickly with the epithelium. Especially for women with vaginal dryness, who often also have mucosal injuries in the vaginal mucosa, this is also a desirable effect of the treatment. A healthy, intact vaginal mucosa is therefore also the best preventive measure against unwanted local infections of the vagina.
