Why measure your oximetry?
Oxygen saturation provides information on the efficiency of oxygen transport, i.e. mainly on respiration. It is an important parameter for assessing respiratory function. In many cases, it is used to characterize the function and activity of the lungs. Disturbances in the oxygen supply to the body (lack of O2) can cause the following symptoms:
General Dyspnea, decreased performance, dizziness, anxiety, weight loss, digital hippocrasis, cyanosis, hyperventilation
Cardiac Angina pectoris, tachycardia, rhythm disorders
CNS Fatigue, confusion, intellectual impairment, loss of consciousness, coma
The monitoring of oxygen saturation is of great importance in medical practice, because the physician obtains essential information from this value in order to decide which therapeutic measures to take in good time.
And how does the measurement of the oxygen level in the blood work?
The oxygen concentration is measured using the photometric measurement method of the finger pulse oximeter
AEROcheck® and the Beer-Lambert law (the basis of modern photometry). Thus, thanks to the photometric measurement method used by the device, the light emitted by a sensor passes through the pulsating blood flow in the finger.
On one side of the finger, the sensor consists of two light sources illuminating a predefined area (wavelength 660 nm for red light and 940 nm for infrared light). Depending on the different coloration of the oxygen-saturated hemoglobin, the resulting absorption varies and is measured at a light-sensitive sensor on the other side of the finger cuff. The measured signal is processed by a microprocessor before being displayed on the screen.
Clarity of the display and oximetry data:
This pulse oximeter has a quality display. Moreover, the information is displayed in color, which greatly facilitates the readability of the screen. For a greater comfort of reading, the orientation of the data is also modifiable, one can thus be put in normal mode (horizontal display) or vertical.
