The Yamato was a Japanese battleship in World War II and the type ship of the Yamato class. The construction of the largest battleship ever built - together with sister ship Musashi - took place under the greatest secrecy. On 16.12.1941 the Yamato was commissioned and took part in many operations in the Pacific (Midway Leyte Gulf). She was sunk by American formations on April 7, 1945.
