Author text
Michael Ende was born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1929 as the son of the surrealist painter Edgar Ende and died in Stuttgart in August 1995. In a sober, soulless time, he reclaimed the almost lost realms of the fantastic and dreams for children and adults alike, and became world famous with books like "The Neverending Story" and "Momo".
Today he is one of the most famous German writers and has always been a very versatile author. In addition to books for children and young people, he has written poetic picture book texts and books for adults, plays, opera libretti and poetry. Many of his books were filmed or edited for radio and television. He has received numerous German and international prizes for his literary work.
His books have reached a total worldwide circulation of over 20 million and have been translated into nearly 40 languages.
