Description

In inland navigation, 2 or 4 barges are usually coupled together to form a rigid ship convoy. Their number depends on the water width of a river course or canal. Due to its box-like shape, the lighter has only a shallow draft. The movable rolling hatches can be used to cover the ship's cargo of ore, sand or grain; the hatches are removed for transporting containers.
